Kronos puked. A kingly puke. Kronos puked and shot out five gods that he had devoured. Hestia, Hera, Hades, Posiedon&Demeter made it back into the real world. The other Titans were in a state of sudden shock. The Guards started pouring into the room!

             Zeus's siblings were in no shape to fight as they had no experience in combat. Zeus turned to his confused siblings and made an escape from the palace. The six gods had gathered on Mount Ida. They did not have long before the Titans found them.  Mother Rhea arrived and she met her children for the first time after giving birth to them.

And,What happens next? Just like the prophecy had predicted Kronos's children had overthrown him. The battle was a massacre, if you can have a massacre where nobody dies.Storm clouds rolled in from every direction. Zeus hurled a lightning bolt that blasted the tower into black marble shrapnel. With the help of the Hundred-Handed Ones the six gods destroyed the palace. They dug the Titans out of the rubble and began chaining them up. The Titans&Kronos were all tossed into Tartarus. The age of Titans was over. Zeus chose the sky for his domain. Posiedon chose the sea.  Hades was stuck with the Underworld. Zeus was now the new King of the Cosmos. The age of The Olympians had begun.

Zeus had a good childhood on Mount Ida. But now Rhea was ready for revenge. She offered Zeus a job at the palace for a cupbearer for Kronos. I mean the pay isn't great, but the job had good side benefits, such as overthrowing your father and becoming lord of the cosmos. And so he agreed.

The first time Zeus saw Mount Orthys, his jaw dropped. The palace was huge. Rhea introduced Zeus to Kronos as his new cupbearer who seemed vaguely familiar. Kronos questioned Zeus if he had any experience and he replied saying that he was a quick learner and that he could also sing,dance and tell satyr jokes.

Kronos loved him. Zeus was the most interesting and entertaining servant in the palace. As time passed by Kronos had started to trust Zeus. One night when Kronos was dining with his favorite lieutenants, Zeus mixed some special herbs in their glasses to make them sleepy. For Kronos, he mixed a special blend of nectar and mustard. The Titans gulped down their tasty beverages. Kronos noticed that his nectar tasted weird but he didn't stop drinking it. And next,Kronos puked. A puke worthy of the king of the universe. His mouth hinged open all by himself and shot out five gods - Hestia,Hera,Demeter,Posiedon&Hades.


What happens next? Well,I guess history repeats itself.

Kronos the Lord of the Universe had developed a crush on Rhea. Kronos couldn't restrain himself and he invited Rhea to  a romantic dinner. He proposed to her on the spot and fearing Kronos she  agreed to marry him. Rhea was the Titan of Motherhood and you know what was bound to happen now. But Kronos was very much afraid of the curse. But he put those thoughts aside and welcomed their first baby together.

.Kronos and Rhea had their first baby girl Hestia. The baby reminded Kronos of the curse,that one of his own children will over throw him and take his throne just like he did to his father. Hestia was a Goddess,the first member of an entirely new branch of immortals. He had to get rid of Hestia immediately and irreversibly to keep his throne.

 So Kronos just opened his mouth and stuffed Hestia and swallowed her. Rhea completely freaked out ,"Ahh,What have you done?".Kronos tried explaining the prophecy. Rhea stormed off in rage.She couldn't leave him because of who he was and she was calm about it as Hestia was immortal so she could not die. Kronos became obsessed with the prophecy and wanted to test it.He had more babies Demeter,Hera,Posiedon&Hades and swallowed them too.

Earth Mother could not stand to hear her daughter wailing. Gaia's voice whispered to go to Crete when she gives birth the next time.And when it was time she landed on the Island Crete and gave birth to Zeus in a cave at the base of Mount Ida.Rhea made it back to Mount Orthys and stormed into the throne room. Kronos wanted to swallow this one too but all that Rhea had brought along was a swaddled boulder and without even noticing he stuffed it down his throat. All this while Rhea had learnt a thing or two about acting. She stormed off the throne room and said that she would never have a child again. That was okay with Kronos. He thought to himself that now he would forever be the King of the Cosmos and would never be overthrown.





Meanwhile, Rhea visited Mount Ida whenever she could to visit Zeus. She was waiting for the right time for him to grow up and take over Kronos and rescue his siblings from his gut.

The oldest girl Titan was Theia. She loved sparkly things and bright scenic views. She became the Titan of clear sight. Because she was all about bright and glittery,she ended up marrying Hyperion,the Lord of Light.

Her sister Themis was totally different.She was quiet and thoughtful and never tried to draw attention to herself. She had a natural sense of right and wrong. She understood what was fair and what wasn’t. She had good reputation among her brothers and sisters. She became the Titan of natural law and fairness.

Third sister,Tethys,loved rivers,springs,and fresh running water of any kind.She was very kind,always offering her siblings something to drink. Tethys thought of herself as the nursemaid for the whole world. She ended up marrying Oceanus, which was kind of a no-brainer,‘ Hey, you like water? I like water too! We should totally go out!’

Phoebe,the fourth sister,lived right in the geographic center of the world,which for the greeks meant the "Oracle of the Delphi" - a sacred spring where she could sometimes hear whispers of the future if you knew how to listen.Phoebe,her name meant bright,and she always looked into the positive side of things. Phoebe ended up marrying Koios,the northern dude,because he also had the gift of prophecy. Later,Phoebe’s grandson,a boy named Apollo,took over the Oracle. Because he inherited her powers, Apollo was sometimes called Phoebe Apollo.

The fifth Lady Titan was Mnemosyne - was born with a photographic memory long before anyone knew what a photograph was. She remembered everything from the birth dates to feeding the cats, every single thing. Just to be helpful,she invented letters and writing. She became the Titan of memory

Finally,There was sister number six,Rhea.She was the sweetest and the most beautiful of the Lady titans.Her name either means flow or ease.She loved animals,too. Her favorite was the Lion. She became the Titan of motherhood.She adored babies and helped her sisters during their delivery.

Kronos,The Lord of the Universe secretly had a crush on Rhea.He ended up marrying her.They had a beautiful baby girl together but what kept running on his mind was,"The curse of his father,Ouranos."

Kronos was now The Lord of the Universe!

At first, Kronos wasn’t so bad. He released the Elder Cyclopes and the Hundred-Handed ones from Tartarus. They had spent all their time in the abyss learning how to forge metal and build with stone, so in gratitude for their freedom they constructed a massive palace for Kronos.
Kronos was also now the Titan of Time.He was especially interested in the destructive powers of time.His 4 brothers who helped him with the murder of Ouranos were given the four corners of the Earth.

Krios was the Titan of the South.He was the dark, silent type.He would stand down there at the Southern edge of the World,watching the constellation. Koios was the Titan of the North.He was also the first Titan to have the gift of prophecy.In fact Koios literally means question.Hyperion was the Titan of the East, was the flashiest of the four.Since the lights of the day came from the East,he called himself the Lord of the Light. Iapetus was the Titan of the West and he was an excellent fighter who knew how to use a spear.Iapetus literally means Piercer. As for the last brother,Oceanus,He took charge of the outer waters that circled the world. That's how the big expanses of water bordering the earth came to be called Oceans.

As Ouranos had Gaia for a Wife, the Sons of Gaia started thinking whom are they going to have as their wives? Then they looked at the lady titans and thought “Hmm..” Disgusting,isn’t it? The brothers wanted to marry their own sisters !? Anyways, not all the brothers married all the sisters.

Theia,Themis,Tethys,Phoebe,Mnemosyne and Rhea - These are the 6 Lady Titans and up on the next blog we will tell you more about them.Don't forget the Death of Kronos...

“Behold, my children” she said.Gaia was furious with what Ouranos did to her kids. And she wanted to take Revenge.

The instrument of my revenge. I will call it a scythe! Gaia summoned the hardest substance she could find from her earthly domain.She created the first weapon ever made -a curved iron blade about three feet long.She asked one of her kids to step up and take Ouranos place as King of the cosmos by killing him.The Titans started mumbling and pointing to each other like, “Hey,you’d be good at killing Dad.”

The youngest of the twelve,Kronos,shouldered his way forward.The youngest Titan loved the idea of taking over the world.Kronos got Gaia,the Earth Mother to do it his way.Gaia tricked Ouranos to a fancy dinner."Just get h

im here tonight and act like you still love him.”said Kronos.The girls were too wise to get involved in murder.The eldest son,Oceanus,backed off.That left only four of the brothers-Koios,Iapetus.Krios and Hyperion - They helped Kronos murder their Dad.

Ouranos came down to visit Gaia.Death awaited him.Kronos emerged from the shadows .His iron scythe gleemed in the star light. Kronos brought down the scythe and yes hit him there in the most painful place for a guy to be hit.(You know where?).Blood was everywhere - except the blood of the Gods is golden,and its called Ichor.

Kronos returned to the valley and the Titans partied.Gaia named Kronos Lord of the universe.That night,Kronos lifted his glass of nectar,which was the immortals’ favourite drink.He tried for a confident smile  but truthfully he was already starting to worry about Ouranos’s curse - that someday Kronos’s children would depose him.In spite of that he yelled,”My siblings,a toast! We have begun a Golden Age!”

Ever wonder how it all began?
So here goes.

The first god if you can call it that,was Chaos - a gloomy,soupy mist with all the matter in the cosmos just drifting around.Eventually some of it's matter collected and solidified into the Earth,which developed a living personality.She called herself Gaia,the Earth Mother.

After a long time alone Gaia looked up into the misty nothing above the earth and said to herself:'You know what would be good?A sky.I could really go for a sky.Either Chaos heard her and co-operated,or Gaia simply willed it to happen.Above the earth the sky formed - a protective dome. The sky named himself Ouranos. Ouranos and Gaia got married. Happily ever after? Not exactly.

Chaos got a little creation happy.Soon it created all sorts of problems - and by that i mean Gods.Water collected out of the mist of Chaos,pooled in the deepest parts of the earth and formed the first seas,which naturally developed a consciousness - The God Pontus. 

So another dome came into being beneath the earth always hidden from the light of the sky.This was Tartarus,the Pit of evil.Chaos and Tartarus had a kid together called Nyx,who was the embodiment of Night.Then Nyx,somehow all by herself,had a daughter named Hemera,who was Day.

According to some stories,Chaos also created Eros,the god of procreation.Others claim Eros was the son of Aphrodite.

Gaia and Ouranos started having kids.First,they had a batch of twelve - six girls and six boys called the Titans.Once the Titans were born,things started to go sour with Ouranos and Gaia's marriage.Gaia decided that if they had another set of kids it would bring them closer......

She gave birth to triplets.The problem each kid had a single eye in the middle of his forehead.She named them the Elder Cyclopes.When Ouranos saw the triplets and freaked about how ugly they were and then bound up the Cyclopes and tossed them into Tartarus,which was the only part of the creation where Ouranos would'nt have to look at them.Harsh,right?

Time passed,Gaia thought that,I should give it one more try with Ouranos.They must have rekindled some of the old magic.A few months later,Gaia gave birth to one more set of triplets.Each one had a hundred arms all around his chest like a sea urchin spines and fifty teeny&tiny heads clustered on his shoulders. She called the triplets the Hundred-Handed Ones.

Ouranos again tossed them into Tartarus. 

Well,that was pretty much it for Gaia.She wailed and moaned and caused so many Earthquakes that her Titan kids came running to see what was wrong. "Behold my children!" she said...
